Question Question... - July 8th 2011, 07:07 AM

Is having sex with an 18 yr. old and being 17 considered statutory rape?

Whenever things go wrong, I ask why this had to happen to me....

Is life ever truly worth living without a meaning?

Love's not a fight, but it's something worth fighting for.

I don't think so. Not in England anyway, the legal age is 16 here x

Actually in the Untied States it depends on the state. In Florida technically the legal age is 18 but the statute also allows anyone as young as 16 to give consent with a partner as old as 23.

However I am concerned, based on the subject matter of the thread and its location I have the impression here that something happened to you. Do you wish to talk about it?

Where do you live? It depends on where you live.

The age of consent where you live is probably 16 since it seems like that's the age for most places. I can't really tell you for sure until you tell us which country you live in specifically...

I THINK (and hope!) I understand what she means - she's asking here because she's worried that the other person could get prosecuted for statutory rape.

In answer to your question, have you checked the sticky on ages of consent?

As you'll see, it totally depends on where you live.

However, if something HAS happened to you, then please VM/PM me if you want to talk.

I hope everything's okay <3

Re: Question... - July 12th 2011, 05:42 AM

It depends on the state you live in. Your state age of consent is 16. But if in a state the legal age is 18, then yes, it is technically statutory rape. But usually people don't press charges because it's so common. My boyfriend & I got caught in his car once while he was 18 & I was 17 (I live in California, so the age of consent is 18), but the cop let us go because he "used to do shit like that all the time". Haha. Just be careful.
