A Poem On Dissociation - May 2nd 2012, 11:14 PM

Nobody knows the feeling of touching
But never really feeling
Nobody knows what it's like to see
But always feel like you're in a dream
Nobody knows the pain I hide
Nobody cares to see inside
Nobody hears the voices screaming
But I know they'll never leave
Nobody has been so completely alone
But it's all I've ever really known
Nobody sees the pain I conceal
Nobody knows, but it's all too real
Nobody deals with so much fear
But the secrets I hide, I'll never reveal
Nobody cares if you're not the same
But I can't play the normal game
Nobody sees the anger within
Nobody sees behind my grin
Nobody helps me without a gain
But they say they care, do they think I'm insane?
Nobody listens when I talk
But I can't blame them; do I hear myself?
Nobody is there when I shed my tears
Nobody listens to my fears
Everybody thinks they understand
But they haven't experienced things firsthand

Hey Christian,
This was a really good poem you have some talent I can't say I understand how it feels but I just wanted to let you know you're not the only one out there. I just finished reading a book that talked about dissociative disorder. So there are definitely others out there feeling the same way. If you ever need someone to talk to don't hesitate to message me, I'd be hapy to help! Oh and one more thing, if you want people to critique your writing and stuff there's a Self Expression forum. You don't have to post that there as this forum also works but usually more people will read it and give you feedback.
See ya around

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.

Meh, well, I kinda doubted many would post about dissociation so it's my way of spreading awareness. I'm not the only one, but I do have it pretty bad so it's aggravating when people try to say that it doesn't exist... I experience it every day and while I would love to go out and pretend to be normal, I've never really known what it's like. I know everybody talks about how they're "abnormal", but having dissociation exceeds that level of "weirdosity". I couldn't be normal even if I wanted to be and knew how. I've had it since childhood.

Hey, you have talent!
I'm sorry you are struggling so much, but I love that you are expressing yourself.
Poetry has helped a lot of people deal with things, and if you feel like you need to spread awareness, good for you.

Sometimes people dont know what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes.

Again, you are talented, and I hope you are working hard!

Shelby
