WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS? - July 20th 2012, 10:40 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooood morning everyone, whassup. Name's Hamed. I am a writer and I love writing. I love free writing in particular. Free writing is when you just write with no idea and you just write to see what would come out.

Although when I write freely, it is reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaally unsettling because every single story I write is a suicidal and tragic one. Every single one. They take a suicidal turn half way through or they just start depressingly.

My latest story is called Escape. I started with an amazing idea and then left it after 200 words. A couple of weeks later, I had to write something for homework so I continued on Escape. An amazing idea turned HEAVILY suicidal and VERY triggering.

So much so that I had to write a 100 word warning so as to prevent nightmares LOL.

I asked my school councellor and he says it doesn't surprise him one bit. It is normal for someone my age, it does happen a lot and I have recently involved myself in a couple of situations having to talk to suicidal people on this site and it has been stressful.

Two people in as many months.

One person has made threats to me twice, that was a couple of weeks ago when I reported her AGAIN. Anyway, that's whassup.

How come my stories are taking this turn? With Escape, I came up with a method of suciide which I have never even heard of before.

It's freaky, why am I writing like that without even meaning to? Is it because of the situations I have been involved in? I'm going to check this thread, so feel free to ask questions in your responses.

I don't think its a big deal if you personally aren't thinking about it all the time. Before I graduated this year I wrote a very very depressing poem and i showed it to my English teacher because I had come up with the same question because I write really depressing things. She told me it is very normal because sadness is a universal feeling that everyone can relate with. So it might just be that whenever you think about a story to write with you think about suicide because for one you know people that need help and because writers usually find a story that everyone would want to read or relate to in some way. You may not be doing this conscientiously but you are trying to find a way to make your story enjoyable.
