Recurring dreams. - September 2nd 2012, 03:39 AM

I've been having these recurring dreams. Not the same ones that I've gotten this time of the year for the past decade. There's this other one that has got thrown into the mix. It's something I used to do and I'm very ashamed of. I don't understand why it's been happening. I might know why the one from last night did, it was a thread I read here on Teen Help yesterday. But not the other times.

Help! How do I make them stop? I'm afraid of sleeping tonight.

If you're not comfortable talking about what you did in the past, I understand. If you don't mind my asking, though, is there anything you've seen/done/heard/etc. lately that is even remotely connected to the past? Perhaps something is reminding you of the past, which is causing these dreams to occur. Have you had any thoughts recently about the past, such as, "What if I start doing that again?" or "What would So-and-So think if they knew what I did?" Maybe there isn't a clear correlation - perhaps you just never gained a total sense of closure with the past, and now it's coming back to haunt you, so to speak. If so, this may be a good time to get help, whether it's talking to a loved one or a psychological professional, in order to work through the past and put it to rest.
