Exclamation Is something wrong? - September 19th 2012, 02:22 AM

So about 6 months ago, I'd been hanging out with my friends and I had started laughing really hard about something that one of them said. I teared up slightly because I was laughing so hard, but suddenly I just started sobbing. My good mood crashed and I sudden;y felt super depressed and I couldn't stop sobbing.
It's happened about 8 times since and it's really embarrassing when I start laughing with my friends and end up sobbing. And I usually can't stop it from happening. I can try to hold on to the happiness but then my emotions just go back and forth and I start sobbing worse. I just want to know if this is normal or if not, what is wrong?

Hi there

I guess right now, you're still going through puberty and this could simply be your hormones. It can make is feel emotional and can put us in different moods and make us very teary. It might also be related to your period. I know when I first started my period, I'd get very emotional at the time of the month and cry about nothing, literally.

On the other hand, yes, you could be struggling with depression and this could be why you tend to be emotional at times. I do know people who struggle with depression but also get over sensitive and emotional at that time of the month too.

However, because I'm not medically trained, I can't tell you for sure and therefore if you're worried or concerned, I suggest you see your doctor. Explain what you have to us and tell them how you feel.

Take care,
