Question Help! - December 4th 2012, 07:27 PM

Alright, so I am finally coming out with this extremely strange problem I have been having.

Lately I have been having these...thoughts about male celebrities. I seem to have it in my head that they are my "friend" and that they care about me. Weird, right? It has been going on for YEARS now, with a bunch of different people. I have never met any of them. I look up to some of them, but some of them are just famous musicians or actors.

I will think about it all the time.....like how I would act around them. It's like I am giving them qualities I don't know that they actually have. I guess it is kind of like a weird fantasy, but I don't think about it in a 'sexual' way.

I like to pretend I talk to them. It is extremely strange, and mortifying for me to talk about on here, but it's time I got help with it.

I really want to move on from this part of my life. I want to embrace my friends, family, and most importantly, God. I want to live a normal teenage life, without having these weird fantasies clogging up my thoughts.

What should I do? I need some help. Thanks.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with this. As long as you don't go stalking them then enjoy the fantasies!

It's not uncommon to fantasize about celebrities, characters from movies/TV shows/books/video games, or people you know in "real life." Talk to any of your peers at school, and chances are they have fantasies of their own as well - it's one of the things that makes us human! We fantasize in order to escape from reality. If you're bored, sad, lonely, frustrated, etc., then imagining yourself with a celebrity you admire can be a great way to distract yourself until the feelings pass! If you're still concerned and feel these fantasies are "wrong" in some way, then try substituting your fantasies with more realistic scenarios - a future get-together with a friend, an upcoming social event at your church, etc. You could also reminisce - recall pleasant events that happened in the past.
