Intrusive Thoughts - January 29th 2013, 12:26 AM

I have lately been noticing that I have very persistent, disturbing, and fear inducing thoughts. I used to think it was just normal fears, but lately it seems more. For example, I have a persistent fear that my bus driver will try to kill me. Fears like that among others are constant and stressful, but I don't really know if it's something I can get help for. Anyone have any ideas what may be wrong with me?

Hey there, Aaron.

My advice to you would be to talk to a doctor, or even your parents or a teacher or school counselor, and ask them for help. This could be a number of things, including paranoid schizophrenia, so it's rather imperative that you seek advice from somebody with more experience than the people of TH.

You should reach out to someone especially if it feels like it is getting worse. I don't like to throw out things it could be because I never liked getting ideas it could be one things and it be another thing. There are several things that can be going on and the only way for it to get better or find out how to manage it is to speak out.

Hey,

Don't label yourself or try to identify what is 'wrong with you'. People in these threads like to say "oh you have paranoia' or other illnesses. Let's not start off with that!

Try and notice your thoughts from outside of your mind. I know this sounds weird, but just notice them. Don't judge them and don't become angry at them. Just let them happen. Try doing this in the bus or whenever you have these scary thoughts. I believe once you don't take them seriously, they will begin to become less vivid and common.
