Unhappy help? *I need advice* - December 7th 2014, 02:37 PM

I'm 13 and I think I have an OCD and anxiety. My current problem is that I'm 24/7 worried. I'm always thinking that something bad is going ti happen and kt's going to destroy my life. And whenever I'm not worried, something happens and a new problem arrives. I'm always nervous and my blood pressure is always high. I don't eat well *Not an ED I just don't eat well* and I sleep like 4 hours away. I'm slowly losing each and every one of my friends *if I still have any*. Guilt and sadness are eating me alive. But I can handle all of that. I can't handle being worried 24/7. Any idea on how can I stop being worried?

Hey! Welcome to TeenHelp!

I can relate to you on this because I'm very similar to that. What I've found worked for me in the past is talking to someone about it. If you are worried about something, share it with someone -- it could even be here on TeenHelp. A lot of the times I found that what I was worried about was extremely irrational, but I couldn't see that. It was after reaching out to people who could provide some clarity for me that I realized whatever worry I had was very unreasonable.

However, sometimes it's that irrational, unreasonable stuff we fear the most. I think distraction is a big key here. It can be hard to do that since the worries kind of just sit in the back of your mind and don't leave, but I do think that finding a hobby or something you're super passionate about can help. What I do to distract myself is come on here! TeenHelp is great. I also love to paint, draw, listen to music, or even just talk to my friends. Do you play any instruments? Have a sport your passionate about? A subject you really want to know more about? Focus your energy on there and you'd be surprised how far it takes you!

In terms of whether or not this is OCD, I do think you should consult a professional. If something is beyond just little worries, maybe medication or therapy can help. I don't mean to imply that something is wrong with you at all, but we could all use a helping hand from time to time. If you're uncomfortable consulting a professional, that's totally understandable. Just know that here at TeenHelp, there are many people (who aren't professionals) that are always willing to give you an ear to listen, and maybe a word or two of advice. The support here is incredible.

In terms of your blood pressure always being high, I do think that your anxiety has a lot to do with it. I don't want to scare you because it's likely not a big deal but I would talk to a doctor about it. Even if you tell your doctor about your anxiety, he/she can really help put you on the right path. You should also mention your lack of sleep and diet.

If you feel like you're losing friends because of this, just know that your true friends come out when you go through a hard time. You will at least know who would stick around for you through thick and thin and who would drop you when things get too rough. I would try to find new people to hang out with and just remember that a true friend is actually really hard to find. It can take time but I'm sure you got this!
