Remembering to check in with myself - July 25th 2018, 05:18 PM

[SIZE="a"]I've been taking steps to be more aware of my actions and what I say. It's a slow process but it's easier to do that than, feeling how I feel and how my body feels.

In therapy I said I would do my best to be able to look inside and feel how I am feeling and what my body is feeling. I'll track it so I am able to discuss it more in therapy.

I am not aware of my own body stress or how I feel. It's something I am working on.

Does anyone know any suggestions or tips to remember to check in with how I am feeling inside and what my body is saying? I've thought about putting alarms but I dont feel itll work for me. I want to do my best to look inside when I begin to feel tense or an emotions pops up. An alarm would make it like I have to do it.

Does anyone have suggestions that I could try?

My first thought was using a reminder/alarms, but I can see that if you want to check in when you are stressed, a reminder might not quite do it.

Maybe you could wear or carry something around that might help as a reminder to check in when you are stressed? Perhaps get something that you don't usually wear a watch, bracelet or keychain or something and tell yourself that whenever you look at this item, you will check in with yourself, or whenever you feel stressed and notice this item.

You can also check in with yourself at the end of the day and reflect on any stressful situations and how you felt at the time. Though I understand reflection isn't the same as actively checking in with yourself.

It's really good that you are paying more attention to how you feel and react to things! You can also ask your therapist for ideas too. Hope others can give you their suggestions!
