Ways you can value yourself. - November 14th 2022, 06:23 PM

My therapist wants me to come up with a list of ways I can value myself. What are ways you value yourself?

Hi Dez,

Different ways that you can value yourself would be, •forgive yourself often •allowing yourself to be a work in progress • accept yourself as you are. I found these two articles on this and they can be helpful for you, if you would like to look at them when you have time and then you can write some of them that you like down on paper, so that the next time you go and see her, you have a list and also if you want to write something about them too add more or you don't have to. For example, the one on ( forgive yourself often) If you are always very hard on yourself for messing up or you feel that you always have to be perfect, the next time you are not perfect try not to be too hard on yourself. • https://possibilitychange.com/value-yourself/https://www.lifehack.org/893077/value-yourself I wish you the best with this and hope that you will be able to come up with a lovely list. I know that you can do this Dez, you are an amazing person and you always do a wonderful job at everything that you do.

I think some ways you can value yourself is by writing notes in a journal or perhaps on sticky notes. Put it somewhere where you can see those sticky notes. If you write in a journal, perhaps decorate that journal so it looks aesthetically appealing, something you'd want to keep going back to. Make the list pretty and decorative, and maybe even write down examples beneath each way you value yourself.

For example:
• I care about my friends.
Once, I brought my friend Carla a book when she was in the hospital.

I wouldn't think too hard on it or force yourself to come up with a compilation all at once. It'll only make you feel worse, and it'll be more work. This should be something enjoyable and doesn't leave that feeling of "ugh, I worked my ass off to create this list" when you go back to it at a later point.

I think Emmie also provided a few good links. Looking through articles or even Googling something might be inspiration. This goes back to the paragraph before this one; you might come up with something spontaneously while looking at something... like, hey, this is relevant and I think this is a good part of me! or something of that sort.

Wishing you the best of luck.

I tend to think about all the things I'm good at.

I find it hard to value myself so sometimes I will take time to do the things I enjoy but by myself. Sometimes I will read a book with a cup of coffee in my favourite mug, or I'll go shopping on my own so I feel like I can take my time, or I'll shower, and then do some skin care to make myself feel relaxed. I find doing rather than thinking works best for me.
