schizophrenia and MS - August 17th 2009, 11:49 PM

there are alot of people in my family with both schizophrenia and MS; my grandma (moms side schizophrenia) dad (ms) moms uncle (schizophrenia) my second cousin (ms) they all are still very regular people and you cannot tell they have these conditions because of medications and for the people in my family with MS they dont have it bad. i dont know if MS belongs here but im just wondering if theres anything i can do to prevent from getting these conditions in the future...

There isn't much you can do to "prevent", per say, things like MS and Schizophrenia. Although it runs in your family, it doesn't mean that you will end up with either of these conditions.

With anything, keeping yourself healthy can always work in your favor. =]

Since no one really knows what causes Schizophrenia, it makes it really hard to try to stop from developing it. Its just one of those things you will have to wait and see. Luckily though, just because you get Schizophrenia does not mean you will have it for the rest of your life, not all cases are permanent. As for MS, I think they can do testing to see if you are more predisposed to it then others? I would talk to your doctor about that.
