I wonder if anyone can help me?!? - December 3rd 2009, 09:57 PM

I have a friend who's only 16 ... she's gone through quite alot but its her mental health at the moment that is the biggest problem.

I don't want to go into too much detail, since I told her mother I'd keep it as confidential as poss, plus I don't know that she isn't a member here!

I spoke to her mother, regarding incedences which had occurred overnight, but she is in a state (understandably!) and doesn't know what she can do.
The girl has been in the mental health system for a while, but has always run away form her problems. After a long conversation last night, she finally admitted to her doctors and social workers that she needed help. They have denied her this help, and yet it has taken her ages to get to the point to ask for help.

What can she do now? I really want to help her and her mum. She is in councilling and whatnot, but ... if she's been denied help ... there must be something, right?

Thanks xx

Can you elaborate on what you mean by denied help? Did she outright ask for help specifically and was told that they weren't going to do it? Surely they have a reason if that's the case, otherwise this would surely be against some sort of rule or oath that doctors have to take.
Maybe there's somewhere else she can seek help? Depending on the type of help she needs maybe going to the hospital or a new psychiatrist is in order?

I can't really think of what to say without any specifics.

Yes, I don't think they would deny her help without good reason.
