I was just wondering, how many people here see a psychologist.
I was originally hesitant because I was afraid my parents would find out how messed up I really am. But, eventually heading into my first major break down - not that I didn't have breakdowns before - this one was just more pronounced than all the rest. It was either ultimately die or seek help. First therapist didn't work, now I'm seeing a school psychologist (the last place I thought I'd wind up, long story). But, yeah, always wanted and knew I needed to see one. This has been my first couple of months. I like the new guy though, has 'home work' assignments, can prescribe medicine if I need it and etc. Main reasons - mild social anxiety disorder, extreme shyness, depression swings that include thoughts of suicide, and self-destructive behavior which is part of the last - but, yeah. I find saying it out loud gives me a lot more relief. Some of my friends know. They just don't know why nor do I show any signs of how broken I am inside... I just, that's nowhere near safe for me. I hate that my adoptive parents know and hope my extended family never finds out. Somehow friends knowing certain things is easier than family knowing for some reason. I was just wondering, how many on here see psychologists. |

I don't but I'd like to, i find myself venting to all the wrong people and in the wrong ways. It'd be nice to know I had that escape every so often.
Thanks for putting up with me <.< ![]() |

I used to see one a short while back. I saw her every week for a few months until she left and I found it helpful, much more helpful than seeing a regular therapist and I started to feel quite a bit better whilst seeing her as well. I would recommend giving it a good go

I do see one and have been for 5 years. I've changed psychologists/psychiatrists/therapists so many times. I've probably seen about five now, and all of those have been interrupted by my frequent in-patient admissions to hospitals.
But yes, I am still currently seeing someone one a week. ![]() When your feet are made of stone And you're convinced that you're all alone Look at the stars, instead of the dark You'll find your heart shines like the sun |

I have a psychiatric nurse, a psychiatrist and an art therapist. Currently, I'm seeing each once a week, however I don't usually see my psychiatrist that frequently. I do find them to be quite useful.

I see one every two weeks, although that might change as I'm moving to a small town sometime early next year.

No, but I do have a friend that I can tell her anything and she knows how to make me feel better. She is studing to become a psychologist, she's on her 2nd year.

Yes, I see a therapist and a psychiatrist. I find that at times it helps me, but I haven't been talking to the therapist for too long so I think I need to give it a bit more time before it makes a major difference.

I see a counsellor, although not a shrink.
I would like to see one, though. I think I need too. =/ -edit- okay I don't really understand why this is so important for me to say out aloud, but what you're going through sounds so similar to what I'm going through, I don't know why but I just wanted to acknowledge that. I'm glad your psychologist is working out for you so well

I'm supposed to see a counselor once every two weeks, but lately, my Dad's hardly been able to schedule enough time off work, so I haven't seen her in well over a month. Even if I were seeing her at normal intervals, though, I don't really feel like it's going anywhere. I don't know, maybe I'm just impatient.
