Losing sync with reality, becoming violent - February 12th 2010, 04:31 PM

Argh. The title says it all. I've had depression for about 4 years now, i saw a psych for my 2-3rd year. So for 1/2 a year I haven't been to my psych (I refused meds, thought I was better, left after summer and didnt go back). Depression definately isn't gone, but I figured I'd try deal with it on my own. No success..

The past month my anxiety has shot through the roof, and has caused really 'phased-out' kinda sense all the time. And when this happens, I get daydream's and they are violent. And sometimes I can't control myself, and just grab things and fling them around/break them. With people, I can't stand them at that time, I have violent daydreams about them and then have to get away from them, because I can feel myself itching to destroy something BECAUSE I feel surreal.

I should go back to my psych shouldn't I?

I'm too ashamed to talk about this with any of my friends, they've been scared by me before, I feel so alone

I used to be 'the nice guy' that everyone liked.

It feels like my life is ending. It wouldn't scare me so much if it wasn't for the fear I have because it's getting really hard to distinguish between real life and daydreams. Why is this happening

If you're feeling as though you can't control yourself, then it probably is a good idea to go back to your psychiatrist. You don't need to do this on your own. Have you ever seen a councillor or done cognitive behavioural therapy? It can definately help, especially if you don't want to be on meds.
As for talking to your friends, it might be worth talking to one that you particularly trust because at leat then someone will know what you're going through and you'll have someone to turn to if you're feeling desperate. You said that your friends have been scared by you before - that shows that they really do care about you because if they didn't they wouldn't have worried and wouldn't have stuck around. I'm sure iff they knew how you were feeling they'd be supportive.
You said you used to be the nice guy - in your post, I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise.
I hope you get the help that you need. You don't deserve to go through this alone.
Ella
