Why wont anybody help!? - February 16th 2010, 09:02 PM

I haven't gone through one day with out a break down in the past week. And it doesn't have to be anything big for me to freak over either. I have asked my mom to call and get me help, My doctor was supposed to get me help about two months ago never called or anything, because he gave up diagonsing me because we have tried so many medications in the past six years and nothing has worked. I go from floating on air, to screaming, doing math homework, to balling my eyes out. I can be having a perfectly fine conversation and then start crying. I haven't had the more intense urge to SI or Overdose in my life then I have the past two days. My teachers see me crying in class they say nothing. Is it pointless for me to want help? I got it when I wasn't willing but now I want to get better and they all turn there backs.

Sometimes, people are simply afraid to help. It's sad, but it is part of our culture. Doctors are also overworked and overbooked alot these days. Not that it makes it ok, but it might be worth getting in touch with the doctor yourself if for no other reason than a "reminder."

The doctor you mention, is it your General Practitioner or a Psychiatrist? From the sounds of it, it would be much better to see a Psychiatrist than your GP for the problems that you are having.

I was hoping to see one, but I believe I need his referral which hasn't happened and my mom keeps putting it off....

It is not wrong of you to as for help, but maybe you are asking it in the wrong way. Right now, it seems like you are hiding your emotions (except for during school--which brings me to really hate the teachers at your school), and everyone's just become so accustomed to your breakdowns that they think you are just handling it yourself. You have to step right out and tell them that you still need some sort of assistance.

Now, concerning your response to medications (or lack, thereof)... As an individual you are very in-tune with your body. I believe, that, psychologically, you have control over how your body responds to certain things. I feel that you are not really accepting the medications and how they're supposed to affect you. Maybe therapy or at least talking to someone about how you feel, getting those feelings lifted off of your chest, can help you relieve that pressure and you can possibly start getting the help you need from medications. You need to learn how to control yourself and your moods--granted, it takes a long time... a mood at a time, if you will.

I've had a lot of experience in a situation similar to yours. I'll always be here if you want more help. If you don't like my advice, you don't have to take it. Just giving you my perspective.

I want to get inside your mind;
I want you to expand mine.
