Re: BPD - August 3rd 2010, 01:07 PM

Lea, I have actually been told the same thing by a therapist in the past. I haven't been officially diagnosed, but I'm still in therapy, so I guess my therapist hasn't come to a conclusion.
Anyway, when I was told I had characteristics of BPD I did all the research I could. I read a lot of articles written by people with BPD... and honestly it helped so much. Just to know that there was someone else who felt the way I've been feeling for so long. It was like I could have written them myself. I felt like maybe this was a good thing, because knowing what's wrong is one of the first ways to heal.
BPD is notoriously difficult to treat, however... some psychiatrists tend to over-medicate for the various problems. I am resisting any sort of medicine right now, and I am trying to just work things out through therapy... but to be honest it's not really working, and I think I'm going to have to try some sort of mood-stabilizers, or anti-anxiety medication.
Anyway. I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone, and that if you ever want to talk you can PM me. I know it can be sort of scary and threatening to hear something like BPD, but through my experience it's better to figure things out.
Let me know if I can help.

Everyone will have traits of a certain mental disorder. Having traits does not necessarily mean you have the illness, it just means you show certain symptoms of it. I'm not sure then what it is that is bothering you about it.

I've been officially diagnosed with BPD, it is hard to treat as has been said but by no means impossible.. I can understand not knowing what to think about it, I know when I first was told I was the same, I struggled to get my head around it.. but either way it's something that can get better and plus symptoms are supposed to get better with age.. I'm not sure how much you know about it but when I was told I looked online about it a bit and learned more about it, which can help. If there's anything you wanna know and I can help I will

You wont try for me, not now,
Though I'd die to know you love me,

I'm all alone,

Isn't something missing?
Isnt someone missing me [x]

Baby, i want you to be my superman.

Aww I understand just how you feel! I was told that too a few years ago. The best thing you can do is read up on it and analyze yourself. Be honest with yourself. If you feel like the disorder describes you then you can reach out for help and make strides yourself also to change. If you read everything and honestly don't believe you have the disorder then forget about it. Other people can have their opinions, but it doesn't make them true and you shouldn't let it affect your life.

From your head down to your toes,
You're not much, goodness knows.
But you're so precious to me,
Sweet as can be,
Baby of mine.
