Am I normal? -
August 12th 2010, 09:32 PM
I'm homeschooled and I'm really kinda scared I'll end up like the freak kids who don't know what sex is at 15, so I'd kind of like to tell a little about myself to see if I'm...OK I guess?
I'm 14, I have two best friends, one lives in Maine so I can't see her often but we talk daily over IM. Another I see occasionally but she lives kinda far so it has to be set up. I snowbird so I have friend in different places. In Florida, I have a friend across the street, a friend I hang with as often as I can and lots of people I see at dance or talk to over email (or facebook), or text but don't actually go over to each others' houses a lot. I don't have an insane amount of friends but I like the ones I have. My mom will let me go places (this is recent) like the movies or whatever if I have someone else with me. I have a phone and my own computer and my parents don't restrict them or look through my texts and stuff. I also basically listen to whatever music I want and read whatever books I want. My current favorite band is Paramore. I'm a little shy but I never used to be as a little kid. I guess this looks a little stupid but I really felt the need to put this out here... am I anywhere near normal? |

I think there is no such thing as "normal". NORMAL is a stero type version the world wants you to be. My advice to you is be yourself. You'll probably find true happiness in doing so.

There's no easy and accurate way to define "normal" in terms of behaviour even though society tosses the word around like there is one. A better way to ask is if there are any problems in what you described, in which case, the answer would be no.

Like the others said, 'normal' is difficult to define, but you sound grand, I wouldn't worry (:

You sound completely fine... and you sound like you know what sex is, so you dont have to worry about that one :P just kidding. If you have friends and youre comfortable interacting with them, even if you are a little shy sometimes youre "normal".

Normal is just a setting on your washing machine
Everything else is relative! As long as you feel comforable with yourself, and your not having roasted babies for breakfast, you should be just fine dear. Teenagehood is a time for exploration of how you are and what you like and stand for. Play around a little bit. "One of the things I regret the most of being able to imagine anything,
is having to fear nothing" "Realty is a lot more malleable then most people think. They just refuse to believe that they can do anything about it." "If a simple electron has a small, but nonzero chance of doing the impossible, what is stopping us from doing the same thing?" -Wise Sayings from a Raving Lunatic HelpLINK Mentor 9 September2010 |
