I need attention - January 12th 2011, 04:29 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Its hard to explain me and my mind have always been two separates beings. I have an unnatural craving for attention it wards people off and I can't take it. How do I stop my obsession with attention? I can't take it any more being so unsure having so much self doubt makes me just want to finally gain enough pain to link us or just remove myself from life's equation forever...

I kind of understand what you mean with the separation thing and the attention part. What I decided to do was become a solo musician, that way I had people noticing me, and only me, while also finding a way to communicate my emotions and experiences. That worked for me but I also know of people competing in solo sports and art and stuff. I guess what I'm really trying to say is if you can find something you're good at, show people.

I really hope this helps in any way xx

I feel like I'm in a similar situation. It seems like I have plenty to offer, but no one really cares. The best advice I have is to show your skills off to your peers. For example, if you're very strong in a particular school subject, find a tutoring group to join and help people out. If you are an artist or writer, show it off. Craving attention is a painful feeling and it's very hard to satisfied if you don't know where to begin. My recommendations are simply means to express yourself in a noticeable manner.

I am sorry Zoe=( I can sorta relate too. I get lonely a lot and don;t often have friends over since I don't have many friends. The only friend that really comes over frequently is my best friend. But on days when she can't be online or can't come over, it gets really lonely and I wish I had more friends to talk to and stuff. The attention I want is someone to talk to so its kinda different then what you are talking about. But yeah. I would do what the 2 previous posters have suggested. Join clubs or express yourself in different ways like do tutoring for little kids, or play an instrament, get into sports, or write. Any type of thing you are good at, persue it. Thats a sure way to get more attention=)
