Hallucination or Dream? -
April 29th 2011, 08:08 AM
So, I've never hallucinated before. Not even when I've been on illegal drugs. Never had a hallucination.
So let me explain: My house is the type of house that rarely ever has bugs or spiders. And yesterday, my cleaner came to tidy the house and I walked into my bedroom (to go to bed) at about 10pm and noticed that my bedroom window had been left open. I instantly thought - great, there are going to be creepy crawlies in my bedroom now. I closed the window and carried on getting ready for bed and settling down. So I think I'd just fallen asleep, I was kind of drifting in and out, when I opened my eyes and saw a large spider/bug on my wall. When I say large, I mean.. the size of my head. It wasn't tarantulla style.. more house spider/fly/daddy-long-legs style. Next thing I knew I was out of bed, standing by my bedroom door looking at the thing, which was on the wall next to my bed. I went to my dad's room - to see if he would come and catch it and take it away - but he was asleep. So I went back to my bedroom and it was gone. No where. I scanned my bedroom walls - and you can't miss something that big - but it wasn't anywhere to be seen. I wearily got back into bed and reluctantly - after about 20 minutes of reassuring myself it was gone - layed back down and went to sleep. No sign of it this morning. But it terrified me. I have no idea what it was. And I was convinced that it was real at first. But now I'm questioning myself. What was it? And now all your love is wasted and who the hell was I? ![]() |

Honestly, considering you said this happened when you were drifting in and out of sleep, and you had thought about bugs earlier on, it's more likely you were having some sort of Lucid Dream, which usually happens when you're on the threshold of Awake and Asleep.
I wouldn't worry about it, since to me, it doesn't sound like the nature of a hallucination, but like a dream more than anything. |

I've had times, mainly when I was younger, where I'd wake up and I'd see bugs and spiders crawling all over the bed and I'd try to brush them off but when I reached them I couldn't feel anything. Then, in the morning when I woke up, nothing would be there. It'll be the lucid dreaming Julz is talking about.
It's scary, but shouldn't be anything to worry about.
