People with Multiple Personality Disorder can't control their personalities, though. Yet, you mention switching back. Did somebody diagnose this? And how are you being treated?

It's important to know as much as possible, so we can help you to the best of our abilities. For example, certain medications can cause feelings similar to Panic/Anxiety Attacks.

You said you "almost couldn't switch back", which implies a form of control.

Anywho, as I asked... Are you diagnosed, and are you being treated, for MPD/DID?

Well, I don't know a lot about Multiple Personality Disorder, but I do know that first of all, it's a controversial diagnosis. If you're seriously convinced you have it, you should talk to your doctor, and see a specialist that deals with those kinds of cases.

Getting proper treatment for a mental illness is really the only help that will actually help you. MPD/DID need treatment, Anxiety needs treatment... Mental illnesses need to be treated, whether with Therapy, Medication, or both.

Therapists cannot diagnose you legally. If they try, they risk a hefty lawsuit. Julz already mentioned it is a very controversial diagnosis and I don't believe it's a real disorder, although others will disagree. That aside, as it stands, part of the diagnostic criteria requires a presence of at least TWO "personalities". If Seth is the only "personality", you don't have DID (dissociative identity disorder). Given the fact you use the label of "multiple personality disorder" (MPD), it suggests you know very little about it because according to the APA, in the DSM system, MPD no longer exists. If you want to talk about the ICD-10, they do use the term MPD. However, since you're in the USA, the diagnosing doctor would rely on the DSM system.

A doctor would likely assess you one-on-one as well as use a Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR Dissociative Disorders (SCID-D). Such an interview consists of yes-no answers and it lasts minimum of 30 minutes to maximum of 1.5 hours. The SCID-D is a diagnostic tool, meaning whatever the results, it does not instantly translate to a diagnosis, rather it helps the diagnosing doctor in formulating a diagnosis and differential diagnoses.

Until then, I would quit self-diagnosing as it can affect diagnostic outcomes. Also, as I mentioned, you cant get the name of the disorder correct so you may have other aspects incorrect for the disorder.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
