OCD - June 22nd 2011, 07:59 PM

Hey everyone,

In therapy on Monday, my psychologist wanted to talk about my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She suggested taking medication for my disorder. I'm not sure what I think about this. Does anyone here take meds for their OCD or any anxiety disorder? And does it make you seem weird around your peers? Any comments would be great.

Well, although I don't take medication every single day, I do take a medication for Anxiety. Though, mine is a "take as needed" type thing. But, I haven't had any bad side effects.

Though medications differ, I'm sure your treating doctor would go over the different medications, talk to you about side effects, etc. before you make a decision. Doctors will give you information, and let you make an informed choice from there.

So honestly, talk to your psychologist about the different drugs, and although she wouldn't be the one prescribing your medication, I'm sure she'd have knowledge of different medications that are commonly used for OCD.

I take medication for anxiety. No one has ever treated me different when they find out, it's just kind of part of me. I doubt anyone would notice anything other than the fact that your OCD is getting better, which is good (:

I know some people think that you're weak if you have to take medication, and I used to think that about myself, but once you start feeling better you will be really happy with the decision I can pretty much say that for sure (:

If you have any other questions about it you can PM me.
