Question Bipolar? Or Mood Swings? - June 26th 2011, 01:20 AM

I can go from overly depressed to jumping off of the walls. Then let me stop doing something and then get stable and my mood changes drastically....Even when I'm angry i'm noticing this now?

Is it really bad mood swings?

Should I seek mental help?

I don't know but whatever it is I don't feel 'normal'

I mean i have alot of love life (lol or the one i'm fighting for) stress but it shouldn't be enough to do this right?

With the tiny amount of information you left here, and the fact none of us are mental health professionals, we couldn't even guess about what you do or don't have.

Bipolar is when you're moods are at opposite end of the poles for days to weeks at a time. You might have grandiose beliefs about yourself and even halluciations or delusins in the manic state.

You're still 17, they often do not diagnose bipolar in people under 18 and even though you are only a little under it normally forms a bit older and like Emma said, the mood swings last longer than a day, closer to about 2 weeks. Obviously I am not an expert and if you have any doubts you should seek medical attention, it never hurts to get a check up, it will at least put your mind at rest! Xxx

ive been diagnosed with cyclothymia, a more rapid form of bipolar at age 16. im now 17 and still comfortable with the diagnoses. my moods change in a heart beat and can change up to 20 times a day. just to let everyone know

i'm bipolar... tbh: the things you HEAR about the disorder are usually a lot different than the actual disorder. its different for everyone, but for me im manic for three or four days and then depressive. not manic one minute and depressed the next. and since you didnt describe any PHYSICAL symptoms ( lack of sleep and fine/ slappin yourself to stay awake. really hungry but when you have food dont wanna eat. etc.) then i'd say you're just moody..

tbh with you Angie. ignore everything said on this post because everybody's different and your not gonna be like anyone else. you dontt have to have physical symptoms, you dont have to be over 18, you dont have to be a lot of things. please just write down everything your having difficulties with and take the list to your doctor
