Oh dear. - July 9th 2011, 01:31 AM

So, I know that this is sick.
But I totally am addicted to reading/writing about trauma. Such as abuse, rape, torture, death.
I don't know why it thrills me so much, but it goes past the regular 'Oh, you're so morbid' bit. I mean.

I'm obsessed with the aspect of pain and death.

I mean.

When I'm reading - I'm not even interested anymore if the characters don't have some sort of tragic past.

How messed up is that?

I wouldn't say its messed up, some people like that stuff that's why there's an audience in it. I myself like it on occasion and I know for a fact my younger cousin is obsessed with it.

In my opinion its normal, or at least nothing to be concerned about as long as you don't go about acting on what you've read.

Didn't plan on it.

Nice to know it's not that unusual, thanks!

Yeah, I, um, know what you mean :/ I'm the same
I keep quiet about it because none of my friends are and when they guess at it or something I say tells them something they give me these looks like I'm insane...

It's quite normal.

I'm a writer and perhaps it's because writing is my therapy, but I censor nothing. Some of the people I've shared with love it for that fact, and there are more people who I've made absolutely and physically sick with it. Personally, I love reading it and I love writing it. Like Rick said, there's an audience for a reason.

I personally find "non-morbid" books to be quite boring. I LOVE tragedy, death, suicide, self harm, anything like that. I just personally think those are all the best stories and I'm a little obsessed. Like, I won't want to read a book or fanfiction if it's all happy and romance and butterflies.

Yay! I'm not odd. This makes me much more comfortable with myself.

I mean, it's just a more interesting story to me when there's some trauma in it. It just makes it so much more romantic when the other tries to help the 'damsel in distress'.
