A bit crazier than average

My psychiatrist is a MORON -

After telling her and telling her that she needs to be checking blood levels of my medication to see if its high enough I went and did it myself. Guess what, its not even close to high enough!
My lithium was at 0.28 when it should be at 0.6 at the minimum and 1.2 at the max. My tegretol was at 17 when it should be at 20 to 40 And no, I don't know why the lab used two totally different units of measurement. I know I'm not supposed to mess with my meds but for Gods sake, I'm messin with em now. Mania for almost a month now? I'm driving myself insane now let alone everyone else, I'm not even on speaking terms with my entire family. Bleh, tis a great day to be told you have a potentially fatal colon infection. |

I don't know about tegretol but she didn't check your lithium? I was on that for a while and that's RIDICULOUS that she didn't. Can you change psychiatrists?

Rick, I'm sorry this has happened to you. As we both well know, some mental health professionals really ARE blinded morons. I suggest trying to find a new psychiatrist ASAP, and perhaps checking yourself into ER if your medications don't help despite your change of dosage. Oh, and check your blood as regularly as you can, to make sure you're in a safe range!
