Possible cure for Seasonal Affective Disorder. - January 12th 2012, 11:11 AM

I have it and my mum told me she read in a magazine if you shine a light in your ear for eight minutes it helps. I just laughed silently and thought it was some witch doctor cure. Apparently it's true

Ummmm. I may give it a go :|

I wouldn't buy the actual thing, I'll just try a normal light.

As great as cures would be I'm very doubtful about that. Firstly because if you shine light into your ears it doesn't get to your brain. Light travels in a straight line and if that were true your doctor would see your brain every time he looked in your ear!

Secondly, light boxes have been a treatment for mood disorders (especially SAD) for a long time and are quite effective for some people. This sounds like just a play on the light box. I would suggest, if you haven't already, to go buy a light box and see if that helps you.

And I thought I would add, the normal light won't do anything for you its the vitamin D in sunlight that affects our moods and that's what light boxes simulate.
