Obsession with a word - January 24th 2012, 03:35 AM

I've developed this obsession with a word. I think about it all the time and I bite myself as I do it. I can't forget it. My sister has called me it a few times jokingly and I keep reliving her saying it. I have to be constantly occupied or I remember it. I can't practice for orchestra because I have to be alone, think about how the piece is supposed to sound, and then play it. The thought just keeps creeping up.

I start fidgeting all crazy when I hear it. It happened a few minutes ago and my hair is messed up from pulling it, I have bite marks on my hand, crying, a headache.

Stuff triggers it like when I see the word. I can't focus at school from thinking about it during lessons. It's just a normal word. I don't know why this happens.

You gotta tell someone dude. You're hurting yourself over a word, that isn't okay. Well its not okay to hurt yourself anyway but over just a simple word? You need to get outside help with it. Maybe talk to a therapist, im sure they will be able to help you with strategies on what to do when you see or hear the word.

This isn't the first time this has happened. I don't sleep in an attempt to get all the work done for school. That's probably part of it. It got better now. I ripped a jacket that reminded me of the word.
