Question Celexa - January 26th 2012, 03:59 AM

My doctor prescribed me for Celexa today. I have a couple questions for people who have taken/taking the medicine. Just wondering about a few things.

1. Did you have more suicidal thoughts when taking the medicine? i had a problem with this on my last medication.
2. How many days did it take to start feeling a little better?
3. How many Mg were/ are you taking?
4. Did you have a lot of side effects?

Thank you. Just wanted some insight on this medication.

I am on Celexa as well, and you are advised not to drink while on any type of anti-depressant or anti-anxiety pill, as they could have create an adverse reaction or cause the medication not to work as well as it should

1. Yes
2. I didn't
3. Don't remember
4. No

Everyone has different effects to medication depending on a lot of different factors. While it didn't help me I know a lot of people who would say it saved their lives.
However, if you feel more suicidal or have a lot of side effects then call your doctor. Most side effects go away within a few weeks as your body adjusts to the medication but if its too much then let someone know.

1. Did you have more suicidal thoughts when taking the medicine? i had a problem with this on my last medication.

i personally didn't, but it's different for everybody.

2. How many days did it take to start feeling a little better?
I don't actually remember, I wasn't really hardcore depressed, it was more of "i had a bad night and did something really stupid and was forced to take it" kind of deal. But doctors say that it usually takes 3-6 weeks before it works. Again, everybody is different.

3. How many Mg were/ are you taking?
20.

4. Did you have a lot of side effects?
for the first day i felt sick to my stomache but after that everything was fine. also, i couldn't take it at night because then i wouldn't be able to sleep. so i took it in the mornings. (:

Hope this helps a little bit, everybody is different and reacts to medication differently. Just make sure you let your doctor know of any long term side effects and if your depression worsens or you have suicidal feelings. Best of Luck to you!

Thank you all for answering. I started on it, and only had about 1 day of side effects. And no suicidal thoughts. I hope this one keeps working.
