Can you explain this to me? - January 25th 2013, 02:33 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of eating disorders, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I have EDNOS. I've had it for about two years now.

I see myself get smaller, but the weight won't come off. Can someone explain this?

This could be due to water weight, what clothes you're wearing, what time of day you're weighing yourself, what you've eaten that day, etc. Weight fluctuates, especially around that time of the month. So while your scale might not be saying that you're losing weight, what's important is if what you're seeing in the mirror is more preferable than before. It's also important that you're losing weight in a healthy way.

Yeah. I'm trying to tell myself that the number doesn't matter but the number annoys the hell out of me.

Take it from me- the number really doesn't matter

When you don't give yourself enough calories, your body will slow down and start to burn less calories to keep you alive- so that could be a reason.

Make sure you're eating enough, yeah? <3

Take as long as you need.

This is correct, it slows down your metabolism. So then if you eat more than you usually do, even if it's less than what you should be eating, you'll gain weight.
If you can, you should try putting the scale away so that you can't get discouraged from the number not going down.
