I don't like food - February 13th 2013, 04:12 AM

I don't like eating food. There are a few types of food which i will east, (pasta without sauce, ice cream, some meat, junk food, white rice, poptarts), and that's pretty much it. At parties I'm always the odd one out because I don't eat pizza or sandwiches, or anything. When I stay home from school I usually don't eat until my parents come home and tell me I have to eat dinner.

I am not anorexic, I don't not like eating, i just don't like food. The doctors said I'd grow out of it. . . ya. . . every year for practically ever.

And ya.

It ruins my self esteem, causes depression, etc; I don't eat lunch at school because I have nothing I like to eat, all that stuff.

Doctors keep telling me I'll grow out of it, but clearly that's not helping me right now.

What should I do?

Hey there,

My advice: Ask your parents to keep the foods you want to eat and take your own lunches to make sure that you are getting the nutrition you need. I'd also try to expand to some vegetables just to make sure you're getting some healthy fiber in your diet, either that, or take a supplement. It's okay to be picky, and even if it's been a long time, I think it'll still pass. I know lots of picky college students that are my friends, so it's okay. But you need to be making sure that you are eating enough.

Hey! I agree with Masterpiece. Don't feel pressured into eating something you don't like. You're in charge of your own intake - make sure you're getting enough food, and make sure its food you like. Even if you only eat one thing, you still need to eat. Also, if I were you, I'd track the amount of protein and fibre I'm getting, and if it's a lot less than your daily reccomendation, try using some supplements. I don't know how accurate it is, but [Edited]has the amount of different substances you should take in.
