I don't know what I should do ... - March 4th 2013, 04:59 PM

So I've been recovering from an eating disorder for a couple months now, and I don't weigh myself anymore, because every time I do it ruins my progress and I get upset and depressed again. But lately I'm starting to feel like I need to lose a bit of weight, but it's so hard! I eat healthy and exercise regularly, but I just can't lose that extra bit off my waist and hips. Should I just eat less? My family, especially my brother, barely eat anything at meals so it probably wouldn't be too hard. I'm just afraid of them getting suspicious that my eating disorder is coming back. And I don't want it to come back, I just want to slim down a litttle bit. But I get hungry all the time now ... I drink tea and sometimes eat healthy snacks but I try to avoid snacking. For a while I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain anything, but now I seem to be gaining with every bite I take. Ugh, it's just so frustrating.

Do we remember all the sad things that happened before today, or have we forgotten them?

If you are afraid that trying to lose a few pounds might trigger you because of your eating disorder, you should talk to a dietician and your doctor and maybe even a counsellor, see what the best way for you to do this is without damaging your progress. And you can talk to your family too, let them know that you would like to slim up a little but that you are concerned it might trigger you or that they'll think your eating disorder is "back" that way they'll be able to support you.
Also, depending on how far you are into the recovery process it might be better for you to wait a while. But talking to someone with experience with eating disorders would help for sure (doctor, dietician, counsellor like I said), they'll be able to help you set up a plan that won't force you to eat to little or trigger you. It might just be a matter of changing up your exercise routine for example.
I hope this helps
