Smile Goals - May 1st 2013, 06:40 PM

So I didn't put this in the "Achievements" section because it looks like no one has posted there in a long time, and I really want this to be seen!

I struggle with binge eating. I came up with this idea that I would reward myself every day that I didn't binge, with something that is NOT food related. I told my mom about this idea, and she loved it! She actually volunteered to support me by giving me 2 dollars every day that I didn't binge, that way that I can have something to save for.

I think it's been a LOT easier to stop a bad behavior if you know that there is something you are trying to work for that seems more tangible at the moment. Like, I'm saving for the new Demi Lovato CD that comes out this month!

It's been helping SOOO much. I haven't messed up since!
It's been really hard, but having something to help you say "Wait, if I do this... I am farther away from getting 'this'." has been helping.

Don't loose track that you are trying to get healthy for yourself and to better yourself, but sometimes is easier to do if you have something small to look forward to.

I think this can apply to any ED! If you don't do a bad behavior that day, reward yourself.

That's a great idea, Shelby! I might try this I struggle with Atypical Anorexia. Thanks for sharing! I love your avatar, by the way

Sure thing! and thank you, back at you.
I think it can really work with your ED too. Reward yourself for making a step in the right direction, maybe eating something you normally wouldn't, ect.

You're welcome and thanks I took that picture myself. That's very true. Although no foods are bad, I could have something off of my "bad" list. What are you going to save up for?

I love this idea! I think I might try this for myself. I struggle with EDNOS. I think that if I tell myself, "You can have one pepsi if you eat both Lunch and Dinner," It might help. I love Pepsi, lol. Thanks Shelby!
