Question I don't know whether to recover or not? - May 12th 2013, 07:04 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of eating disorders, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I've had "food issues" for almost two years. I started losing weight because I thought it'd make me happier. It didn't. I "recovered", then relapsed. This happened two more times. I'm now in the midst of another relapse but I'm seriously considering trying to beat this once and for all.
It's just really scary. And every time I eat I always have a fall back plan of "Oh, well I can always just restrict and lose all this weight again." So I've never truly mentally recovered.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, for those of you who have recovered from disordered eating/an eating disorder, was it really worth it? And do you have any tips on how to ease the whole process?

Its hard to actually STOP eating the foods you Want to eat.

Most people do alot of exercise, BUT eat whatever foods, so they can be Healthy and look good, AND still eat Whatever they want.

There really is no way to Ease the whole process, just exercise, and fit it into your routine and follow it.Strictly.

You can target a specific area on your body you want to lose weight or even gain muscle.

I do recommend finding a Hole in your schedule of your average day.

And exercise commonly.

But FIND A MOTIVATION.

I find that to ease the process, you must learn to trust others and especially your body. Your body has it's own comfortable "weight setting" and once it gets there, it will even itself out. In recovery, you won't just gain and gain and gain. You will gain a little, yes, but only until your body is healthy again. I'm still in the midst of recovery but right now, I say that it is worth it. I feel less alone and when I have questions, my specialist or doctor answers that question.

I hope that you feel better soon <3
Recovery is not easy, but it is worth it. I want you to be happy and healthy again

Thank you guys
I'm still really scared of gaining weight. I'm constantly thinking about how I look, how many calories I've had, etc. Yesterday in church with my grandma all I could think about was the fact that my thighs touch now :/
I want to lose weight but I want to get better and not care about food and weight and calories.

I can relate to what you're saying. It sucks and it's hard but all I can say is that it will get better. It won't stay that way forever <3
