Help - June 19th 2013, 09:54 AM

I try to eat but I can't keep the food down. I always end up running to the toilet to purge. How do I keep it down? How do I not purge?
I want to recover but I'm afraid that if I let go I'll gain weight and be uglier than I already am.

Well, the question really whether you want to keep the food down?
You won't become fat only because you eat. A lot of the times, the reason fat is stored is because of irregular eating. Your body never knows when the next meal is going to come, and so stores all the food it gets. If you have regular eating habits, your body is less likely to get fat. Although, I have to point out, that everyone needs a small mount of fat. To maintain a good physique, it's important to exercise. Why don't you try concentrating on exercising more than what you're eating or not? Make sure you get the exercise you require, and as you exercise and your body gets used to your routine, your body will burn fat very quickly, and won't store very much at all.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hey there,

I actually made a thread a long time ago with Coping Mechanisms for those with eating disorders; you can find that right here. It has a list of different ways to distract yourself when you are ED triggered. I'd also recommend to reach out to somebody, such as a friend, to help you through those hard times. They can call you and talk you through it, or come over and spend some time with you as a way to distract you.
