Devolping and ED…… I think - September 27th 2013, 08:27 PM

I've never viewed myself as anything other than fat and ugly. But ever since the beginning of the school year, I've barely eaten anything so I can lose weight. One of my friends is an anorexic and she notices I haven't been eating but she doesn't know why. Lately I've been feeling very dizzy and lightheaded and I've passed out twice this week. I don't know how to stop

Hey! Welcome to Teen Help! I am glad to see that you are recognizing that you are struggling with this and are reaching out for help!

I can't diagnose you because I am not a professional, but it definitely sounds like your struggling with ED typed behaviour. There are definitely resources that you can access to help overcome this, the local ones will be different state by state (province by province or by territory, etc.). The best thing to do would be to approach a guidance counsellor or teacher in your school who you think you can approach and tell them that you have been having trouble with this and that you need help, they'll do what needs to be done to make sure you get help. There are lots of options to help you work on developing a more positive body image and healthier habits to manage your health.

Also we are all here to support you, lots of us have gone through relatable experiences and can understand the struggle. But it will be ok, you are worth it and you do not need to harm you health to be thin!!! You deserve to feel great and be able to access tools to feel good and healthy!!!. The most important thing to remember is that everyone is beautiful, including you!!!!

Feel free to PM me if you ever need to chat or have questions

I am unable to tell you if you are developing an ED, but I am able to be a listening ear and support you. I hope you consider telling a trusted adult, e.g a teacher, counselor, parent, or doctor.

in_recovery is right, we cannot diagnose you with an eating disorder. However, your behaviors are INCREDIBLY unhealthy and I would highly recommend that you reach out to an adult, and most importantly, a professional. This can really be damaging your body. Passing out is very serious, so if this is happening already, I'd really recommend you get some help. I know that it's scary at first, you feel that you can "handle it," but it only gets worse the longer you wait to get help.
