ok, so i have been struggling with strong anorexic tendencies for about 5 years now, and im proud to say that, while i have starved myself i have not done so for more than 2 days, and never to the point of malnourishment.
but, ive got a problem now, guys. i got on the scale the other day and saw that i weigh [EDITED]. now, i had the same emotional reaction then as always, which is like, "damn, im fat!!!" but, as always i mentally calculated my bmi to be approximately [EDITED] and, if i remember correctly, since i am 20 years old, and 5 ft. 6 in.-that puts me on the cusp of being overwieght for real. how do i get it under control before it gets out of hand without spiraling into the age-old anorexic starvation trap?

I'm sorry it's taken a while to get you a response.

The first thing I would emphasise is that a mental calculation isn't really a very good idea. If you want to calculate your BMI, do it using a calculator and the proper equation. You can find tools to do it online if you Google search it.

Remember also, however, that BMI is really intended to be taken with a pinch of salt. It's an approximation, and won't always be an accurate indicator for everyone, because everyone's body is different.

If, once you've calculated your BMI properly, and assessed carefully whether it's really necessary to change your diet/exercise, then it's literally a matter of being healthy. You definitely do need to be careful not to get stuck into a vicious cycle of thinking things like "I'm fat" - because they're not true. It would simply be a matter of very slightly adjusting your diet, and you can consult medical professionals about that.

What I'm basically saying, though, is that it's important not to jump to conclusions. Go through the motions carefully, and look after yourself.
