Question Confused -but not in a bad way - February 17th 2014, 12:31 AM

Tl/dr How did it get, not just better, but so much more than that?

I'm not sure if this is the forum to be asking this in, but it seemed the most appropriate one to me.
I thought my life growing up had been pretty normal, but after looking back on it I see I had to deal with some stuff young kids shouldn't have to. And I did end up, in the 8th grade, finding myself purging and restricting and exercising like crazy. Self harm, drepression, suicide attempts, I went through a lot. But now I've gone through lots of therapy and personal soul searching and am (now I'm in 10th grade) doing a LOT better.
Surprisingly better, actually. I hated my body, everything about it, I just couldn't stand it. But now I absolutely adore it, more than I did before I started to hate it. Honestly I could look at myself naked in a mirror and just admire myself. I'm not questioning it too hard, I just want to know if this is something most people experience at this point? Is it common?

Hi there, and to TH!

I'm really glad that you're doing better with these things, you deserve to be happy. While I haven't felt that feeling completely, there are some days where I can look in the mirror and point out things that I admire. I think with a lot of hard work and dedication in recovery, people will find that they can get to a place that is as good as what you're in.

Hey, welcome to the site!
It's great that you're better now than you were before. And I bet it's totally normal to feel good about yourself after recovery. You've been through a lot and you're just starting to see the beauty in yourself.
Hope everything keeps improving send a message to me any time

Hey there!

I'm really glad that you're feeling better and things are going better now. I agree with Cassie, when you put dedication into recovery, after awhile I think this is what it starts feeling like. On a side note, welcome to TeenHelp.
