what is wrong with me, for the past year or so every day I've bitten a bit of skin off my fingers and swallowed it, and I alway eat my own scabs and stuff, I feel disgusting and scared it's like I'm a zombie, I eat myself.

Hi there, if you're talking about like chunks of your finger, then that can't be good. But if you just mean biting at your thumb and picking off skin as a kind of nervous tick, it's fine. I do that. And about the scabs, it is kind of disgusting to eat them, but I know how it can be tempting! Oh and by the way zombies don't exist, and no you are not like a zombie!

Hey there,
I am not the best person to give a name to this, but a girl in my school had similar habits, so I can assure you, you are not the only one (if it makes you feel better). If it is possible, I suggest talking to a professional about this, they will be able to help you better.

This is more of an addictive behavior than an eating disorder. since you seem aware of it, the best way to stop yourself from doing it, is distracting yourself immediately.I suggest you take a look at the Alternatives to self harm thread. I am not sure how much of this will help you, but there a few great distraction techniques that could prove helpful. I suggest you keep trying different methods of distraction.

I used to bite my nails a lot before, so my mom started applying bitter gourd juice to my nails. Due to the bitter taste, I wouldn't feel like biting my nails. You could try doing that. When you are at home, you could apply bitter gourd juice, Aloe Vera or vinegar to your fingers. You could try using tape on your fingers. This would make it difficult for you to bite your skin. Everytime you look at the tape, it will be a reminder to you, to not bite yourself. You could also wear gloves, depending on the weather.
WikiHow suggest using a nibble inhibitor on your nails. Bitrex is a chemical that is put in these products to make them taste foul. It can be obtained from your local pharmacy. I am not sure about how they work, but you could research it. This might be hard, but if it is possible I suggest you tell your family and people who are around you on a regular basis about this, so they can help you. If they see you biting your fingers, they could ask you to stop.

I know you are scared, but I am glad you were brave enough to make this thread and ask for help. I cannot promise you that stopping this habit will be easy, but it is definitely worth a try and it is definitely possible. You are aware about what you are doing, so you could work towards stopping yourself.
