Question Slightly Confused - May 4th 2015, 10:21 PM

So recently (last week or so) I've really changed with how I eat, I was normally a big eater but now I can hardly make it through meals without feeling sick then an hour later I'm starving again, I just can't eat food. A close friend of mine has gotten depressed within the last few weeks as well. Would this just be getting too worried about my friend or something else?

Hey,

It's hard to tell what it is since it's only been going on for a week. It could be an eating disorder, but I think it's too early to tell. If you're concerned or if the problem keeps up for another week or two, you should probably see a doctor so you can find out what's wrong. If you feel like you're not eating because of your body image, or if you're afraid of gaining weight, these could be signs of an eating disorder. Make sure you see a doctor, though – since we aren't professionals and don't know you well, we can't diagnose you or tell you exactly what's wrong.

Hope that helped. Shoot me a message if you ever need anything or want to chat

Hey there,

There are a number of different reasons that your appetite may have changed. It seems like you have a bit of stress regarding your friend and their depression and it's definitely possible that it may have had an impact on your appetite. Our appetites do tend to decrease when we have abnormal (by abnormal, I mean more than you are used to) amounts of stress, nerves, or anxiety.

If you're not intentionally skipping meals, it's doubtful that you have an eating disorder. That being said, there's no harm in seeing a doctor and discussing your change in appetite with them if you're concerned about its roots.

Take care!

Hi there,

It sounds like you're under some stress and this could easily have changed your appetite. I know when Im stressed I can't eat. Its hard to say whether this could be related to and Eating Disorder since it's only been going on a week or so. There are so many reasons why your appetite may be a bit funny right now, so I wouldn't be too worried. How ever if it continues over the next 2 weeks or so I would talk to your doctor about it to be safe. Even if it is down to stress, talking to your doctor about what is stressing you out could be helpful and take some stress of you. If you need more help, remember we're always here for you.
