Question Old habits, new fears - October 21st 2016, 12:54 AM

Hey guys!
So I have been struggling lately with my eating disorder, I have been doing some old habits again of purging. I saw some blood in it the other day and it scared me a bit and then tonight there was quite a but more blood, nothing brown or coffee ground like but it was bright red and enough to be all over my on my hand. Could this be just from scratching the back of my throats with my nail or should I be more concerned? I know I need to stop and have been trying actively but some days when I'm not strong enough I've been noticing blood and just want to know if anyone thinks I should bring it up to my doctor or if it's just minor? I had a bit of stomach pain last week but I believe it's due to midterm stress. Today I just feel overly bloated which I haven't felt in a really long time and I haven't purged so should I be worried about this over full feeling? Also if anyone has any tips on how to help stop the urge to purge I'm open for tips as well!
Thanks guys sorry if this is triggering I'm just getting concerned.

Hello there and welcome Any time you see blood, it's concerning, and the more there is, the more serious it could be. I think you should definitely bring it up with your doctor soon. I'm glad you're trying to stop and seeking help from your medical professional for both help stopping and for the bleeding is a good step. Good Luck.

Hey!

Thanks for coming to us for help.

Please be aware we're not medical professionals so we can only give advice from what we know or from our experience!

I am bulimic and this was happening to me a lot badly at one point so I spoke to my GP and she had no concern and told me it was because I was like scratching the veins in my throat I think which would just be a temp issues and required no medical assistance. However, you are clearly concerned so if this keeps happening, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting it checked out to be safe.

I also understand you haven't come here for emotional support with your eating disorder but please know if you do need emotional support too, we're always here. You are never, alone.

Hope and wishes.
Jessie
