from starving a week to binging a couple days - October 29th 2016, 05:32 PM

I have been been way under the normal calorie in take for a while then two days ago I was at my moms and I blew it. I am eating like crazy. All the deamn time. I just had a sandwhich now im eating a whole tube of crackers. I feel so bad. I just want to purge. But can't because I got my tongue pierced and it's new and I don't want it to get infected. But I think I'm probably going to end up doing it anyways. Tommorow I plan on going back to my diet. I just feel like shit. And don't think recovery is for me. I will recover when I get to my ideal weight.

Can anyone help me with the binging?

Hi Essa, I am sorry you feel like you need to binge. And, no, I cannot help you with it. Even if it weren't against TeenHelps rules, I could not in good conscience give you advice about how to do something that's going to be harmful.

If you going to go back on your diet tomorrow, do you think you can just distract yourself? Like read a book, go for a long walk, call someone on the phone, go on Facebook, draw a picture, listen to music, whatever you like to do, and continously remind yourself that tomorrow will come and you can start fresh; the world doesn't end today because things haven't been going great, tomorrow you can make up for it. That mantra has really helped me a lot because 2 days or even a week in the greater scheme of things are recoverable, we don't need to hurt ourselves (in this case, by purging) because tomorrow will come and we can begin taking steps to do better.

If your ED is causing you trouble, do you think you could reach out to a therapist and a nutritionist who can help you with it? I think it'd be of great benefit to you.

I hope this helps

I didn't ask for anything against COC I asked if someone could help me out on ways to stop myself from binging. I know asking for help on starving myself is against the rules. I just need ways on how to stop myself from binging even when im eating normally.

Hey

So many different people use different approaches so maybe it's about having a good google at how you can help yourself from not binging, trying several until you find what works from you. Personally, I feel like binging, I come to my room where there is no food and get snuggled into bed because then the thought of getting out of my warm bed to walk downstairs and decide on what I am going to grab seems really boring and pointless. I also always make sure that I have fruit in the house so if I feel like binging, I will nibble on that. But honestly, have a google and look at healthy ways to stop. Like I said it may be trial and error but you will eventually come across something that helps you so don't give up.

You mention going back on your diet tomorrow so I just wanted to check in with that. Is this a "healthy" diet or is this going to lead to restriction? Don't feel the need to answer if you don't want too. I just want to make sure you are caring for you. And also remember we're always here for you. If you are struggling at all come on here and get it all out of your system. We don't mind helping you in any way

Hope and wishes,
Jessie

I've had to deal with binge eating in the past. I would always get stressed or bored and just chow down haha. What's made a difference for me is finding something to keep me occupied (can't eat when your busy working), and drinking coffee, which is a mild appetite suppressant.

The first tip is making sure you don't allow yourself to get hungry. Keep to your meal schedule and don't skip meals. We very often binge when we allow ourselves to be deprived of nutrients that we need and our body freaks out and binges on food. Make sure you're getting healthy amounts at all your meals, and make sure they are nutrient filled, so they have enough protein and starches so that you don't feel deprived. Next, eat mindfully. Turn off the TV when you're eating and savor your food. This is really helpful for me, as I tend to mindlessly eat when I don't focus on eating, and then I end up binging. Instead, focus on just mealtime and making sure you eat when you need to. Last, it's okay to mess up! Everyone binges sometimes, even some people without EDs. Forgive yourself, and go back to eating your regular schedule later. Don't consider it a relapse, just move on. You can do it!
