Can't stop - June 13th 2018, 03:06 AM

I can't stop binge eating. Every time I try to tell my parents about this problem I get so scared and I don't tell anyone. I keep binge eating and hiding food around the house so that my parents and sister can't find it. It's making me feel upset and I don't know anymore.

Sorry to hear you are struggling with binge eating. I think it's understandable that you would want to open up but scared and end up not telling anyone.

How would you feel about writing a letter to your parents? It might help you to put everything that you want to say into words. Then you can either give it to your parents or leave it in a place that your parents will see. If your parents are understanding, they should listen and take you seriously. However, sometimes parents might not understand much about eating disorders. If that's the case, it's okay, you can reach out to others such as other family members, teachers, counsellors and doctors.

It is hard reaching out and being vulnerable but it is so worth it when you are heard, validated and can start getting the help you need and deserve

Did you write the letter? How did it go?

I just want to say thank you for sharing the information here. At least by reaching out, you've begun to take action (or thinking about how to take an action).

If you told your parents, either in person or via letter, I hope that it went well.

Have you done any research online or in your community to see what kinds of resources there are? There might be a local support group you could go to.

In order to stay healthy, it is important to have a proper diet. You should eat only at a fixed timing. Eating a lot of food can only make you obese. So try to change your habit of eating food every now and then.

Hi, thank you for your help. Yes I wrote the letter but I haven't given it to them because my parents have been fighting. So I have been just keeping it and hopefully soon I can give it to them. Thank you again for your help.

Have you considered reaching out to any community groups meanwhile to get support?

Hi London, I am sorry you are struggling right now. Is it possible to reach out to a trusted adult who's not a family member, such as a teacher or counselor?
