Eating in Public
Eating in public is something that I used to struggle with immensely. It used to be something that would make a ton of negative thoughts pop into my head. I know I struggled with it because I have struggled with eating disorders off and on throughout my life. We have an article that details some of the things one can do to help with a fear of eating in public. I found the article to be helpful to read and it reminded me of some of the things I did to try and work to overcome my fear of eating in public. http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f81-e...eating-public/

Thank you for sharing this article! I found it very informative and I liked the bit about increasing exposure!
I struggled a lot with eating in high school, purely out of anxiety. I've got better over the years with eating in public, although I still sometimes feel a bit self-conscious. I didn't even realise that eating in public was a struggle for many people, so it's good to know I'm not alone.

I hate eating in public and try to do as little of it as I possibly can. I ate out twice this week, and everything on both restaurants' menus look unappetizing so I went with the ones that were richest in all the bad stuff. I'm a picky eater and know what I like, and restaurants don't always offer that unless it's loaded with unhealthy ingredients. A lot of people think an obese person can't be a picky eater, but we can be. There's a name for it I'm sure, but I don't know what it is.
I thimk the closest it would be is atypical anorexia. Of course, there are criterias to be met, and there's just one I don't meet.
So, back to the question, I cope by just not going out to eat at all. I'd rather order take-out if I don't want my own food.
