so here whats going on: its been a few weeks at school and now i just smoke cigarettes and drink water all day, maybe have coffee in the morning, and dont eat. if i do its a small meal or a force myself to throw up a couple of times so i dont feel anxious about eating. its only been a few weeks so i havent lost any drastic weight, im still fat-5'2" and xxx. should i be worried about whether or not i have an eating disorder? or wait and see if my situation persists?

It does sound like your relationship with food is going down hill. Try and figure out what is making you to throw up and not eating. If this does persist then do tell someone e.g parent, Gaurdian, friends, someone you are close to.
Well done for reconizing your relationship with food isn't a great one. Good luck "Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Hi there,
I don't think it's a good idea to wait and see if it persists. Eating disorders are easy to fall into. You might become more seriously bulimic and that's when it's harder to stop. Although doctors won't "diagnose" you unless you've shown symptoms for so many weeks, I would really recommend getting help right now. If you really want to lose weight, there are healthier approaches - moderate exercise, cutting down on junk food. Anorexia and bulimia are two routes you really don't want to take. Try talking to school nurse if you have one, or a counsillor. They can explain the dangers of eating disorders and help you overcome this healthily. Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.
It's perfectly fine to be a happy individual. Take off at the speed of sound... |

Hey there-
It does sound like you have reason to be concerned. I want to dispel a common myth for you--you do not have to be emaciated to have an eating disorder. In fact, most people with eating disorders are of healthy weight, or above healthy weight. It's less about the actual weight and more about the behaviors you are engaging in, your thought processes, and your relationship with food. Purging is extremely dangerous, and restricting isn't safe either. If you do need to lose weight, that should be determined by a doctor, and you need to do it in a safe way (with exercise and a healthy diet). So it might be a good idea to see a doctor to talk about what's going on and make sure that everything is okay. A doctor can also refer you to any other professional support that might be helpful (like a therapist or nutritionist). These individuals can work with you to regulate your eating and help you develop more of a positive relationship with food. Please take good care of yourself; PM me anytime. <3 "Do not ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." “if nothing changed, there’d be no butterflies” |
