Is this considered healthy? - January 26th 2009, 11:20 PM

Hello everyone. I had previously sought help for bulimia here, and have been working on a healthy diet in lieu of the advice I received.

So I'm just wondering if having a toasted turkey sandwich with whole wheat bread (no butter/margarine) is considered healthy? I really want to do it right this time without a relapse, but I really crave that sandwich. I don't want to eat it if it isn't considered healthy, but if I can't get this silly sandwich thing straightened out before I make one I have a feeling I might end up purging it.

I know it is loaded with carbs, so I figured I should ask first.

I would say that this would be a very healthy sandwich to eat. Add a little tomato and some lettuce and you have pretty much the perfect sandwich. A turkey sandwich on wheat bread is pretty much the healthiest sandwich you can have. Eating healthy isn't about cutting out all the carbs..sure, too many carbs aren't good...but the amount of carbs in a sandwich are completely acceptable and necessary for your body to function...your body needs the carbs! Just try to remember to keep it balanced...that is key, a little bit of everything is just right for the body.

Its great that you are working so hard to stay on track and not get back into a bad place. Just keep eating and be confident that what you are eating is what you need, there is nothing wrong with a turkey sandwich...enjoy! I hope it is delicious!

Yes it is healthy

Your body gets energy from carbohydrates and you need more in winter to keep warm

As said above, turkey sandwiches are healthy. Eating, in general, is healthy.

Have you ever seen a nutritionist to work out what you should be eating, daily? It may help to have a professional reinforce what is healthy, for you. Because you are what matters. :]
