Should i talk to my guy friend about this? - March 26th 2010, 02:34 AM

Hello, my name is winter. ive bene dealing with eating disorder symptons since i last year due to losing weight from swine flu.

Its gotten really bad, im really depressed, upset with how i look.
i cant even believe what my friends say about my body.
not one person has said i was too skinny or beautiful or really pretty.
but i just dont believe it. i only eat 1 meal a day now and i love controling that. ive los a lot of weight from this year. the list cud go on and on about how i feel,
But i just want to get to the main point of this.
i really wanna talk to my best guy friend that ive known for almost 4 years now. we are pretty much like twins. no joke, we look like eachother, theres not one interest or topic we dont agree on. and i just feel like i can tell him anything and hell make me feel better. i think he knows im really sad, but he just never says anything. hes pretty mature for his age when you think about it. hes almost 12. which means he 11. last time i talked to him about my cutting. he didnt show one trace of flipping out, asking why, or anything. he just helped me cover up my cuts. i felt like he took care of me. good care of me. even if it was just advise and i had to do it on my own. i really felt comforted by it. i feel like hes the only friend i cud ever count on nomatter what.
so now i really wanna open up to him on my ED problems. but i dont what he wud say since he sa guy in all ya know? and i dont want it to be awkward or anything. i talked to him a little bit about it and hes like "you are really skinny" and he said himself hes overweight even though he doesnt look like it. he even told me his weight. and i dont think he was lying when he said he was overweight. i really trust him. but im worried.

should i talk to him about it or not?

-winter

well what are you looking for when your going to talk to him about this? Personally if he that good of a friend to you, then i think he should know what your going though regardless of your reason for telling him.

i wonder when i'll finally jsut start accepting myself, when i'll stop saying i wish i could be like that person.

i have facebook, and myspace. and you can ask for it. :P

I would say if you trust him, then go for it! Sometimes all I need to make me feel better is a little chat with a friend. I have someone close to that I talk with about a lot of personal topics regularly. He doesn't mind and it really helps just to have someone available to listen. So he's 11, and how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

I would just say be sure that he's ready to handle what you want to bring up and that he knows to keep things private. A friend can be so helpful, so I would definitely say that it probably wouldn't be a bad idea

I would agree. You should try talking to him.
He may not have the mentality to understand where your coming from though, so just be prepared if he doesn't quite understand.

You can always PM me if you need to talk, as I'm struggling with the same types of things right now. <3
