Question Do I have an ED? - April 14th 2010, 07:37 AM

Well, I was just wondering if I have an ED or starting to develop an ED.

Because Monday, I didn't have lunch just breakfast and dinner. Then yesterday, I just had breakfast, a little snack wrap for lunch and I had a sandwich for dinner. Again today, I had breakfast, didn't have lunch and having dinner.

Well, just because you are missing meals, it doesnt always mean you have an eating disorder. If you just aren't hungry, then it may be some sort of bug, you may want to go to the doctor about that. But if you are missing the meals on purpose, then yes, it may be the start of an eating disorder. But they definately do not come overnight. Some people do this for a week or so, and then stop and go back to normal, and I wouldn't say they had anorexia.
If you are at all concerned about your eating (which you obviously are - otherwise you wouldnt have commented) you should go to a doctor, s/he can help you eat healthy!

Skipping a few meals here or there isn't really an eating disorder. It can lead to an eating disorder, eventually if you keep going that way and get to the point where you are eating very little. It's best to try to eat 3-6 meals a day, but if you are not hungry, missing one every now and then is okay.

If you are worried about your eating, or your weight, you should talk to your doctor or school nurse. They can help you get to a healthier point, and they can tell you if it's alright to miss a meal every now and then.

Well, I am missing meals on purpose.

Like this happened before as well where I wouldn't eat anything at school and I lost weight.

I think this is what I want. I want to lose weight like I did before.

If you're missing meals on purpose, with the intention of losing weight by doing so, it definitely sounds like it could be the start of something. And in any case, it's not advisable. You should talk to a doctor about your concerns - they'll be able to help you eat properly, and feel good about it.

from wat it sounds no but if its getting worse its a sign of an ED it also depends on reasoning

Skipping meals on purpose is the beginning of an eating disorder, in my opinion. These kind of bad habits can easily evolve into something serious. You might want to start eating again, just make sure it's healthy meals.

If you want to lose weight, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, whole grains and leat mean. Ditch the soda, sugar and fatty food, drink plenty of water and exercise. Starving yourself is the bad way to go about it. I'm glad you recognized that this is wrong before it got really bad.
