Unhappy urges for NO reason - April 17th 2010, 03:35 PM

I currently do NOT have an ED but have tried to flip(purge) in the past. For some reason my urges are getting worse even when I am NOT around food. At D-NOW I promised myself and God I would not self harm again. In a way flipping could go in that department, BUT I only promised I wouldn't self harm not that I would not flip. Why are these urges so bad right now?

Sometimes urges just pop back up, even when we can't totally understand why. Are you feeling stressed/anxious lately? Has anything happened to cause you to feel any variety of emotion? There almost always is a reason for urges, you just sometimes have to really think about it to find the reason why. That being said, though, the most important thing is that you don't give into the urges! So I'd say that your first priority is fighting all of these urges, and doing whatever you need to do to not give into them. Then, once things are calmer, you can try journaling, talking to friends, thinking it through, and see if you can identify any pattern or cause of why the urges might have popped up again.

Take good care of yourself!
