What should I do? - May 26th 2010, 09:52 PM

A couple of months ago, I went to the doctors about my eating (or rather lack of!) Telling her that I was really worried about it.

She told me that it could just be the antidepressants or the depression itself. Then I went to my therapist and said the same thing! A couple of months later its escalated a little bit, but after the last response I'm a little concerned about telling them about it again.

Any thoughts on what I can do? Thanks.

I would just keep reaching out to people. It sucks that you got those kind of responses. But maybe if you really talked with them they'd get a better understanding. Is there anyone else you can reach out to?

It's really great that you are wanting help for this. Keep trying!

If your eating is getting worse, chances are it's not the anti-depressants, although they might have some affect. Keep talking to them, talk to your therapist again, let them know that your eating is getting worse and you don't think it's just your depression. Keep reaching out, and stay strong.

Sometimes things just happen.

I agree with the lovely ladies suggestion of telling your therapist that things are getting worse for you. If their job is not getting done then they need to know so that they can better help you or direct you to places that can help you. Eating disorders I call cyclical (at least for myself), because sometimes they have their bad moments and sometimes you are really good. You have to remember the times that you were good and aim to get back to how you were during those times. Fight back even when you don't think you can.

If you ever need any support or just need someone to talk to you are welcome to visit me and send me a message at any time. You are not alone and sometimes talking to someone who can relate to your situation can help. I really think you need to let somebody know that you are getting worse even if it is someone who you are comfortable with who you know will do something proactive for you. Please be strong you are a beautiful and amazing person. Nothing short of that and I am here for you!

Best,
Lexy

Thank you.

I'm a bit worried that I'll just get the same response though. What if I do?

In fact I've just had an idea... a friend of mine is rather worried about me. Do you think if I get the same reactions that I could ask her to write them a letter? Do you reckon that could work?

If you're friend is concerned as well that's just one more person that can help you in this fight and help you find someone who can help. If you get the same reaction you have to try to be proactive about finding yourself help. That's not so easy, but you and your friend could maybe do that together. I think a letter would be great if she is willing to write one. I'm always here for support or advise if you need as well. Please don't hesitate to PM me.

Best,
Lexy
