struggling. - June 21st 2010, 02:06 AM

For some reason i never get hungry. I don't ever not eat on PURPOSE. I just end up sleeping really late and then I just am never hungry. The only time i get REALLY hungry is at night. Past 12 or 1am. It's the only time i seem to be able to eat good amounts. I WANT to gain weight and get to my proper weight. I just seem to be going downhill. It's just not as easy. It gets very very hard, and end up depressing me a lot because i know i just want to be healthy. I'm always weak and not having the energy. Does anyone have advice? I could really use it right now.

Angelina,

So, I can relate. I used to not get hungry, I still don't sometimes. It's really hard to keep fighting when you don't feel hungry, but sometimes you have to force yourself to eat when you know your body needs it, even if you don't feel hungry. That way you still get what you need. If you haven't eaten in a while and it's like lunch time, even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat a small something. Getting yourself on a regular eating schedule might also help. Just hang in there, you can do this.

Maybe you could try things like Ensure. You know, the breakfast shake things? That may be a good start to getting a meal substitute, until your stomach gets used to having something in it and decides it wants you to eat.
You could probably slowly start adding snacks to this, as well.

I've had something very similiar for years. I went to the hospital and everything because no one knew why I wasn't eating. At first, it was bcause I didn't feel hungry. I wanted to eat, but couldn't. Eventually, they ruled it as stress, and put me on medication for it. It was also acid build up in my stomach, which can be dangerous.

I suggest you go see a doctor to make sure everything is all right, but I would think it's from stress, and you probably feel best at those particular times which would allow you to be able to eat.

Like the others said, try to force yourself to eat. If you eat, you will feel better.

Hey Angelina , my best advice is just don't think of this as failing you are trying and thats what matters. These things take time to work through, but slowly you are and will get there. Never ever think you've failed cause in the end you only are at a temporary stop on the road of recovery. I hope this helps and hang in there if you ever need me you can PM or VM me.
