counseling makes it worse??? - February 15th 2009, 09:02 PM

Ok so my bmi is XXX and so my mom put me in counseling for my "anorexia" or whatever. She and my counselor said that it would make me better and stuff but actually it makes me a lot worse. Like after I leave counseling, I feel way more depressed then I did before and I starve even more and want to cut more. I dont know what to do!!

Perhaps tell them that they are making you feel worse? It's possible that you are triggered by it, possibly due to a bad approach by the councilor? The best thing you can really do is to tell the councilor how you feel after you leave, and if things don't improve, to find a different councilor.

Maybe you need to see another councillor? The fact that your accepting help and wanting to get better at all is telling me your not 'too anorexic'. Do some research and maybe find a councillor that specialises in EDs. Pick one that you feel comfortable with but maybe give this councillor some time as i hope your not expecting a miracle overnight.

Let me know how you get on x

Acid stains you
Drugs cause cramp
Guns aren't lawful
Nooses give
Gas smells awful
You might as well live.

I was in the same situation for a while. They root out things that you dont want to talk about, which makes you more depressed. I found they werent listening to me which made me get worse almost to show them what i meant. I tried other councillors. I eventually found one that worked for me, and it really helped. Unfortunately she left ...but remember, you dont have to stay with one.

Try other methods to get help. Recovery groups and so on, which your doctor can refer you. Good luck

I went I think about 9 days without eating, or sleeping and I just cut, and cried. Now thinking of myself as a man, I am ashamed of this but I promise you that if you skip the guidance and do a little research which don't get me wrong here but a lot of people go anorexic because they are scared of getting fat, honestly. Do a little research, you can still eat healtyh and good like even celery every 3 hours if you wanted, to keep you up and running and also it won't put on weight.

Now if that isn't your case, that's fine. But I find that people who suffer from being anorexic and then go to eating normally, they do it better by eating out and with friends in a fun setting that is laid back, loose and 'chill'.

either way I wish you the absolute best,
